Leaving Apple after 17 years to launch a startup

September 22, 2014 § Leave a comment

After arguably the most amazing 17 years in computing history — seeing UNIX spread from iMac to the Apple Watch — I’ve decided it is time to leave Apple and strike out on my own.

I’ll be taking a few months off to play with some ideas I’ve been working on for making programming more accessible, to see if there’s a viable business in there somewhere.

I’d love for you to stay in touch on this next phase of my journey.  Recommendations always welcome. I may need them…

An Updated Online Bio for Dr. Ernie Prabhakar

August 8, 2008 § Leave a comment

I’m Ernie — though I go by “Dr. Ernie” on the Internet to make it easier to Google me (I have a Ph.D. in Physics which I almost never use, at least directly). I’ve been in Apple Product Marketing for 11 years, focusing on UNIX, open source, open standards, and Web 2.0 (yeah, “focus” may not be the right word :-).

These days, my twitter feed is mostly about Rohan, my three-month old son and first child. I am active in my church and numerous online communities. Hobbies including trying to reinvent Western Civilization.

You can learn more about me at LinkedIn, Facebook, Delicious, FriendFeed, Spock, and even Wikipedia.

Where Am I?
